Become an Amir or Amirat and help develop the next generation of confident, knowledgeable, and engaged Muslim leaders.
Inspiring Young Leaders (IYL) is building a nationwide network of local youth leadership groups called Qabeelas. Led by dedicated parents, educators, and community volunteers, each Qabeela helps Muslim youth develop essential leadership skills through hands-on experiences, Islamic education, civic engagement, and community service.
You provide the local leadership. IYL provides the national program, training, and resources.
What Is an IYL Qabeela?
A Qabeela is a local group of Muslim youth who come together to learn, grow, and take action in their communities.
Inspired by the successful troop model of Scouting America, IYL combines local adult mentorship with a nationally coordinated leadership development program.
Each Qabeela participates in IYL's 12 Months, 12 Challenges program, where students complete meaningful monthly activities designed to build practical skills and strengthen their Islamic identity.
Students earn digital badges for completing challenges. Those who successfully complete all 12 challenges in a year receive a special certificate of achievement and a personalized letter of recommendation from Director Faizan Syed.
You don't need to be a professional teacher or have previous experience running a youth organization.
We welcome:
Every Qabeela is led by an approved adult Amir (male leader) or Amirat (female leader) who helps students successfully complete their monthly challenges.
Empowering the next generation with the confidence, skills, and leadership needed to serve their communities and stand for justice. Through training in public speaking, debate, civic engagement, and leadership development, we equip young people to become thoughtful, principled leaders who positively impact the world.
